Good food is delight and good dessert is a bliss!

I had come across this picture sometime ago and the resemblance of it with me was so strong that I couldn’t help saving it on my desktop. What an untold yet explicit expression has this picture captured or may be it is all about the strong resemblance we share ( I and the pup)!

This is exactly my condition when I hit a confectionery or cross by a bakery. I am so mesmerized that I can have a crisis of words to explain how I feel. Thankfully, I have some special people in my life who accept me this way and control my phases of frequent upsurge of excited emotions, and at the same time know to loosen up the leash when it is the right time.

Everything about a good looking cake draws me. The appearance, the colors, the shape, the distinct aroma that fills a bakery and the mystery of it’s taste. But, this is not the end.It is rare that I get the chance to taste it. Thanks to all the insidious scary calories and unwanted fat that comes with a hefty price.

Why and why on earth do such tempting pieces of ecstasy, calms the mind and scares the weighing scale?

Growing up as a ‘healthy and cuddly’ child, I have been innumerably forbidden to the category of the ‘don’t eat’s’ but my devoted love for good cakes has remained solid ever since then.

thirtyrosesA love so strong, that I developed the knack to bake cakes my way (vegan ways) so they no longer remain forbidden in any ways to me, any longer and I can moderately and frequently surrender myself to the pleasure of the palate 🙂

Well, come to think of it, what makes some of the most desirable things so true to be tempting and yet forbidden? Is it because someone advised them to be so or is it because of the anticipation of what might follow? For sure, it is obvious by now, after being on the happier and some-what matured side of thirty, there is definitely a frenzy charm that underlies in things that are forbidden. The more we know a thing  is forbidden , the more is the curiosity to explore and uncover it, just like discovering a secret chest aging in the dark corners of the attic.

In a world like today, we are all kids outside the candy store.

While some like me, are tempted to cross the glass window and discover the cake beneath the enticing frosting, there is the other half of the race, who are engaged in discovering the forbidden powers and wrecking the world for nobody’s good continuing the legendary stories of the jinxed ‘forbidden fruit’.

Had half the world chosen good taste over these deceptively good forbidden powers, I bet it could turn out to be so much better for all of us..

A Vaccine Called – Civic Sense

When I think about India, the first statement that strikes my cognitive memory is – ” India is a land of rich and diverse cultural  heritage”. Well I do not dismiss my conscience for sounding that loud and clear to me. It indeed is and I have grown up seeing and believing in this in so many ways. My country is densely populated with warm people whose gestures can make you have outnumbered friends in just no time. When it is time for a festival, you can clearly see a crowd like a color wheel spinning on the streets expressing their exuberance and enthusiasm almost every 12 months in a calendar year. The food here is awesome. You name it and you get it. With each state that surprises you with its exquisite cuisine, it is quite a daunting task to resist your lips from smacking all those 366 days, not forgetting to credit the leap years  . But amongst everything, if I could wish for a little more, other than sociological & political improvements moving smoothly through all the diverse cultures and in an even hugely diverse nation, is some civic sense. It is beyond my simple understanding and thought process as to why in India, do we fail in acknowledging some of the simplest of the civic senses. In spite of numerous drives that have been initiated from time to time either by the government or any NGO, thanks to our undying spirit, we rarely let any of them succeed. If you are on the streets, you can observe the immense knack to honk till your ear drums blow off  even when the traffic signal is red. There is regular breeze of traffic with a feeling of outnumbered Tumblers swooshing through the Gotham City where people are always in a rush yet being on time seems like a distant dream. Random walls and the streets are like a graffiti of pattern spitting as if the world for these talented spitters are an inherited basin. So if you really need a permanent solution, paste a poster of a mythological figure and with the fear of respect, the traumatized walls can savor a rescue. A large bunch of us also have an innate talent of generously throwing off unwanted things in our hands to the mercy of the streets believing that the government already employs staff to broom them and we should keep up with this employment strategy. Even a cue is a clueless subject. To begin with, the concept of a cue is rarely welcomed and even if maintained, there are more energies expelled in breaking it than otherwise. For the rapidly growing economy and sky rising buildings, roads, bridges or dams there always would be a signature of the pile of the unattended left over bricks and mortar that symbolise a development and a laze, so much simultaneously that probably there is never the urge or time to have them removed untill blessed with a responsible eye.

Seriously, I and many more like minded ‘me’ wonder as to what goes into our making that we make lives for us and others so miserable? And the tragic part is it’s not only about residents hovering around the poverty or the education denied that are being involved in the circus but surprisingly even the educated bunch who might be holding the trophies of self misconception in the name of an absent civic sense.

I deeply wish if we had a vaccination called ‘civic sense’, life would and could have been such a bliss, in my land. Well, the fact also remains that when the same people walk down the streets of another country, they would do any possible  gesture to exhibit that like any other sensible citizen, they are well capable of abiding laws, regulations and courteous civic sense which is somehow forgotten on their on motherland. My country is an immensly beautiful place with natural and historic treasures along with diversity in the truest senses just that the most needed vaccination of civic dose could have made it so much better.

A Beautiful Flower in my Garden : Mo

mo (2)

I believe life to be a beautiful garden and in this garden is the fragrance of some wonderful people, great experiences and a mixed bag of delightful beings.Such is the aroma of life.

As I walk along, I wish to collect in the basket of my heart, memories, adventures and experiences that leave me touched and enriched. There is one such lady whom I have virtually known for quite sometime, who has inspired me to become a better being . It is a rare occasion when I do not admire her or wish to become someone like her.

She has so much compassion in her eyes and strength in her words that if at some time I fail to listen to the message she is trying to put across, I start feeling guilty.

I have loved animals all my life but have not been able to express the same publicly or for that matter do anything for them out of the way. It has just been a deep seated desire, that she instills in me and gets me kind of activated. It is only after knowing her that I am aware of how brutal we humans can be on the non-humans being just for the sake of pleasure and how meaningful a life is by becoming a vegan. She has unknowingly moved me from a different corner of the world and meeting her in person is a ‘thing to do’ in my small bucket list.

I do not know whether I would be eligible for that since am an ‘in the process’ vegan candidate but I have taken my baby steps for sure and try doing my bit each time. For every small accomplishment, I start feeling closer to her and its truly amazing.

With all the love she spreads around the world through non-human beings, she seems to receive lot more than that. You are not an animal liberation activist to me Mo, you are an inspiration to me of what I would want to become. Thank you for being a wonderful flower that I meet in my garden everyday and for being so precious to this world where humanity is disappearing at a fast rate.

‘Media-ocre’ Drama

The other day while my husband and I were watching television after a long day, we were gaping at some TV commercials when we had our eyes on a new one, defining seduction in a different angle.

Not surprisingly, it was yet another commercial that ends up publicizing a ‘deodorant?’. I mean, whats wrong with the media and the publicity business. Does anything and everything have to sell on the backbone of such an art of seduction?

Whether it is a body lotion or talc, a cologne, chocolates, even some beverages, perfumes and deodorants, simply anything and everything seems to evolve around the concept “that seduction”sells. Just having a look at this commercial makes me feel so dumbfound as to why do we even, not have an authority of trashing them.

Generally, we are familiar with movies or tv series having a restricted audience depending upon their content, but such useless & unrestricted commercials that are being watched numerous times in a day, where you end up wondering whether it’s about a condom (which could rather still make some sense), you eventually land up with some uninformative cosmetic commercial where serious viewing restrictions & filtration might be well required.

For a nation trying to grow so fast, I genuinely feel there is an absolute need of good and positive information that needs to be fed to mature and young minds. An image where women are treated as an object of pleasure or a commodity to boost the market of a particular product should be absolutely unappreciated. The entire focus is either about being fair, being slim, be it the body, or being more indispensably needed, are randomly portrayed through such commercials. When on one hand, there is an upsurge to make the world, not see women as mere products or objects of entertainment, on the very other hand are such ways of  our media’s disconsolate publicity that gives ample scope to look at women in a more depreciated manner.

Such a portrayal does no help but rather is a negative tool to paramount gender expression and set odd standards for the women constantly. It is high time that the contribution of women to the society, as a whole should be valued effortlessly instead of being a tale of struggle.

I recently came across this video and felt it worth a share as it has a significant influence on the kind of life that we as women are leading in a ” progressive and globalized” world.
